Care & Wash Instructions:

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT - Machine-wash your diapers before the first use*

Why we recommend machine-washing cloth diaper?

It is because machine-wash can wash off all the detergents thoroughly and the machine washing swells and fluffs the cotton fibers maximizing its' absorbency (especially for a brand new cloth diaper)

Don't worry, our cloth diaper can be washed by machine....for better care, please use the laundry bag when you machine-wash the cloth diaper.

If you really have to hand washed your cloth diapers, please make sure that you rinse off the detergent thoroughly or you will have leaky and stinky diapers. Remember to avoid using any kind of PLASTIC BRUSHES at all time on your cloth diapers. We will not be responsible for any diapers mutilated this way as those plastic bristles may cause tears to the PUL lining. If the lining is scratched or torn, the diapers are no longer waterproof.

Tips and Tricks in caring your diapers

What to avoid:

o        Bleach - breaks down fabric fibers and lighten colors of covers

o        Fabric softeners - these products will leave a coating (wax) which will affect the absorbency factor.

o        Don't leave poop in your diapers for several days it will break down the fabric fibers and leave tough stains.

o        Do not wash more than two dozen diapers at a time.

o        Detergents with enzymes, brightening or whitening enzymes in their ingredients. These by-products can produce rashes. The enzymes (remains in fabric fibers even after washing) will reactivate in the fabric when your baby wets their diaper.

o        Do not soak your diaper covers as overnight soaking will damage the elastic bands and waterproofing layer.

Stain removal ideas for cloth diapers and trainer pants:

  • Soap bar: Rub with a soap bar and leave for a few hours on the wet stain before placing in the diaper pail.
  • White shaving cream or white toothpaste: Just rub it in, let it set for a bit and throw in the wash.
  • Cold water: Rinse diapers under running cold water before anything else. Protein stains, such as poop, come out easily using cold water (hot water & soap will set the stain).
  • Lemon juice: Squirt on a stain and set it out in the sun; takes a couple of hours or add 1/2 cup to the wash cycle.
  • White vinegar: Add 1/2 cup to the rinse cycle. Will aid in whitening and restores the PH-balance--keeps diaper soft. Note: When washing all-in-ones, give an extra rinse after the initial rinse with vinegar. Some diapers tend to smell strongly of urine after the baby pees--it has to do with the two acids (vinegar + urine) colliding. Rinsing is important.
  • Sunshine: Let the sun do its own natural bleaching action.
  • Baking soda: Add some to the first rinse cycle to remove stains and odor as well.

Factors that contribute to diaper leakage

o        Make sure the insert is tucked completely in the cover so clothes don't get wet from the wet inserts or opening of pocket.

o        Change the diaper frequently if your baby is a super wetter.

o        An improper fitting diaper cover especially if there's leaking around the leg openings, although baby's diaper and cover aren't very wet. Make certain your diaper cover is adjusted to the correct rise setting and secure the Velcro or snaps tightly.

o        Detergent build-up occurs when there is detergent accumulated and has not been fully rinsed off during your normal laundry. Take a "sniff test" after drying. If the diapers smell of strong detergent, likely you will need to wash them with water only. Try washing the INSERTS ONLY in hot water without adding any detergent or add some baking soda or lemon if your machine doesn't allow hot water.

o        Using too little detergent. Rule of thumb is to use 1/3 to 1/2 of the amount of detergent recommended by manufacturer.

o        Using wrong detergent that is too harsh and contains lots of brightener, enzymes or whitening agents.

o        Using nappy cream can contributes to diaper blockage, thus reduce the absorption.

o        Not enough pre-wash before first usage. It is recommend to pre-wash your new diapers at least 3 times before first usage.
